Radon is a cancer-causing natural radioactive gas that you can’t see, smell or taste. Its presence in your home can pose a danger to your family’s health. Radon is the leading cause
of lung cancer among non-smokers.
Most new homes are now built with “Passive” Radon Mitigation Systems (as required by most local building codes). This means that the contractor who built your house may have installed the piping from the basement through the attic to allow Radon gas to escape on its own by rising up the pipe and out of the house. This may not be enough protection. We recommend testing your homes Radon level with a simple test kit or a continuous monitoring device.
By simply installing an exhaust fan in the attic (in-line with the passive system), you will significantly increase the amount of Radon gas exiting the house.
Because every installation is different, please call our Customer Service Department at
888-800-5955 or e-mail to discuss which parts you will need to make your Radon Mitigation System more effective.
You may only need a few additional parts to safely** finish your "Passive" installation
(which may include):
• Fan
• Extra length of pipe
• Couplers
• Exhaust Cap
• Roof Flashing (Kozy Kollar installed from inside)
*The United States EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) encourages people to test their homes for radon gas. The fixing of homes with a radon level of 4 pCi/L or more is highly recommended.
**Most installations can be completed from within the attic. There is no need to
venture out onto the roof.
